GOING SOLAR IN SIMI
Proud owners of 805 Boot Camp, a local fitness company, Sarita and Randy Shoemaker wanted to lower the costs of their energy bill. With a 4.86kW solar electric system from ASE, they have already watched their meter spin backwards and their savings begin. Here’s what Sarita and Randy Shoemaker had to say:
Why we decided to go solar: “When we purchased our house, it was a HUGE investment. Immediately we saw that our home was in need of repairs that were costly. The first thing we did was replace all of the windows so that the HEAT and CHILL would stay put! It gets crazy hot in Simi Valley and rainy/cold for a few weeks. It was a sensible expense that would be a good investment for our family.
Solar was the next step for us to confront. At first we thought only the richest of the rich (or the scientists that created solar panels) would qualify to own them. We thought it was also just a nice thing to have, not an actual investment. That was 4 years ago.
Since then our family has worked hard to make changes to help improve the environment and our quality of life. We learned about recycling and taught our children (don’t expect they are taught at school… they are not). We started eating organic, as our business, 805 Boot Camp, is all about eating better and taking care of your body. When we confronted how much power we were using just to run our family and our business out of our home we started to talk about how we could actually try to go even “greener” and use solar.”
Why we chose Advanced Solar: “There are so many “deals” and “discounts” and “bargains” for solar. We have learned you get what you pay for – so many times – it was important that we put the best quality product on our home. We are not moving any time soon, this would be a big but important investment.
We met with Marco Suarez and he took us through the process details. As complicated as it could have been, he made it so simple. The products ASE uses are top grade – and now that the installation is complete, we find ourselves looking at other houses or businesses that have gone “solar” with a careful eye. Everything we were told by ASE has been 100% true. We were shown how to get a rebate from the government, what paperwork was needed, they covered the permits and took care of EVERYTHING!!”
The installation process: “The dates for installation were set and the time frame to complete the work was clear. We loved the black and white, “just say it like it is” approach. We’d never had this sort of a service before so were not certain what to expect. We just knew they were going to need to go on the roof and take care of it. NO PROBLEM. We have a two story house!
They showed up ON TIME (actually the team showed up early) and started ON TIME on July 1st 2010. They were all upbeat and friendly with us and our family (and pets). They gave an estimate of 3 days to complete the work. They did it in 2!!
The follow up to show us what to expect, how to manage and what was happening has been perfect. Now Randy runs into the house and the first thing he does is check the meter… “how much have we put back in the grid!?” It’s incredible.
We also are very proud of going solar because it is another BIG step toward taking responsibility for our planet and going to a greener place. Our kids are all very proud as well, which makes us very happy.”
